- Where do tours depart from?
- All Sterna Travel tours depart from Harpa Concert Hall, Austurbakki 2, 101 Reykjavík. Hotel pickup is included for most tours within central Reykjavík — you'll receive a pickup window with your booking confirmation.
- What languages are tours guided in?
- All scheduled group tours are guided in English. Private tours can be arranged in Icelandic and several other languages on request — contact us to ask.
- What is your cancellation policy?
- Tours can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before departure. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. We do not charge a fee if Sterna Travel cancels a tour due to weather or road conditions — you'll be offered a reschedule or a full refund.
- What should I bring?
- Warm layers, waterproof jacket and trousers, sturdy walking shoes, gloves, a hat, and a camera. Iceland's weather changes quickly, so bring layers you can add or remove. For glacier and ice-cave tours we provide crampons and helmets.
- Are tours suitable for children?
- Most day tours are family-friendly. Some highland and glacier tours have a minimum age (typically 8 or 12) — the requirement is listed on each tour page. Contact us if you're unsure which tour suits your group.
- What happens if the weather is bad?
- Iceland's weather rarely cancels a tour outright — our guides adjust the route to make the most of the conditions. If a tour cannot operate safely, we'll contact you to reschedule or refund.
- Can I see the Northern Lights on a tour?
- Northern Lights tours run from September through April. Sightings depend on solar activity and cloud cover. If you don't see the lights on your tour, you can join another Northern Lights tour free of charge within your stay.
- How do I book?
- Click 'Book Now' on any tour page, choose your date and number of travellers, and complete checkout online. You'll receive a confirmation email with your voucher and pickup details immediately after booking.
