About this tour

The Golden Circle is Iceland's most photographed loop — Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss — and for good reason. The three sites compress a billion years of Icelandic geology into a single day's drive. We slow it down: more time at each stop, smaller groups, a guide who knows the saga history behind every viewpoint.

Þingvellir is where Iceland's parliament was founded in 930 AD and where you can stand inside the rift between the North American and Eurasian plates. Geysir is the namesake of every geyser on Earth — Strokkur erupts every six to ten minutes. Gullfoss is the thundering double-tier waterfall that nearly became a hydro plant in the 1920s before a young farmer's daughter, Sigríður Tómasdóttir, fought to save it.

We pace the day so you have real time at each stop — not the rushed, photograph-and-go feeling that mass tour buses produce. Lunch is on your own at the Geysir café (or the Friðheimar tomato greenhouse if you'd like a more memorable seat).

What's planned

  1. Hotel pickup in Reykjavík

    30 min

We pick up at your designated stop in the capital area, then drive 45 minutes east toward the rift valley.

  2. Þingvellir National Park

    75 min

Walk between the continental plates. Visit the Law Rock where the Alþingi parliament met for nearly a thousand years.

  3. Friðheimar tomato greenhouse (optional lunch)

    60 min

A working geothermal greenhouse where lunch is served among the tomato vines. Iceland's most photographed lunch — book ahead during summer.

  4. Geysir geothermal area

    45 min

Strokkur erupts on a six-to-ten-minute cycle, sending boiling water 20 metres into the air.

  5. Gullfoss waterfall

    45 min

A two-tier glacial-fed waterfall thundering into a 32-metre canyon. Spray rainbows on sunny days.

  6. Optional: Secret Lagoon at Flúðir

    75 min

Iceland's oldest natural geothermal pool, dating to 1891. Less crowded than the Blue Lagoon.

  7. Return to Reykjavík

    90 min

Direct return to your pickup point with a final scenic drive through the southern lowlands.

All transportation, professional English-speaking guide, hotel pickup and drop-off in the Reykjavík capital area, and any entrance fees specific to your tour. Meals are not included unless explicitly stated.

What should I bring?

Warm waterproof outer layer, sturdy footwear, gloves, and a hat — Iceland's weather changes quickly. Charged phone and camera. We provide bottled water on board; a small snack is wise for longer routes.

What's your cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. If we cancel due to weather or road conditions, you receive a full refund or a free reschedule — your choice.

Will the tour run if the weather is bad?

We run year-round and adapt routes to conditions. If a specific stop becomes unsafe, we substitute a comparable alternative. If the entire tour is unsafe, we contact you the night before with a refund or reschedule option.

Is hotel pickup included?

Yes. We pick up at designated stops in the Reykjavík capital area; your booking confirmation lists the exact stop nearest your hotel. The driver waits 5 minutes maximum, so please be ready 5 minutes before your scheduled pickup.
