Whales of Reykjavík — Photo Workshop
A 3.5-hour boat tour from the Old Harbour led by a wildlife photographer. Smaller boat, capped at 18, with on-board coaching on capturing humpback dives and minke breaches.
About this tour
A specialist version of Reykjavík's classic whale-watching tour, designed for guests who want photographs they'll keep, not just memories. Smaller boat, half the headcount, professional guide on board. Standard whale-watching boats are great if you just want to see one — this trip is built around bringing one home in your camera roll.
What's planned
Briefing at Old Harbour
20 minMeet your photographer-guide on Pier 1. Briefing on what species we'll see, how to set up your camera or phone, and where to stand on the boat for best shots.
Sail into Faxaflói Bay
40 minOutbound to where minke whales feed. The captain coordinates with other boats by radio so we don't crowd the same pod.
Whale watching with coaching
1 hr 30 minActive spotting with on-deck guidance. Burst-mode practice on minkes and humpbacks; tail-fluke shots on dives. White-beaked dolphins in summer.
Return to harbour
40 minHot drinks below deck. Time for one-on-one camera review with the photographer if you'd like.
